MFA Press Statement: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong meets the President of the Republic of Rwanda, His Excellency Paul Kagame, 19 September 2015

     Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met the President of the Republic of Rwanda, His Excellency Paul Kagame, this afternoon at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.  



     During their meeting, Prime Minister Lee and President Kagame reaffirmed the excellent relations between Singapore and Rwanda, and discussed ways to step up bilateral and economic links between both countries.  Prime Minister Lee also encouraged Rwanda to increase its participation in the Singapore Cooperation Programme, and to consider using Singapore as gateway for investments into Asia.  Prime Minister Lee and President Kagame discussed developments in Rwanda and the East African Community, and took note of the growing interest of Singapore companies to invest in Rwanda.    



     President Kagame is in Singapore until 21 September 2015 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee to attend the Singapore F1 Grand Prix.
