"The Trade Ministers of Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the UK wrote a joint commentary on how protectionism will hurt the world’s eventual recovery from Covid-19. We need to keep trade lines open in order to get essential food and medical supplies to where they are needed. The open and rules-based trading system is also necessary to enable the post-COVID rebound in employment and economic growth.
I thank the UK, Australia and New Zealand for their partnership during these unprecedented times and look forward to working with all like-minded partners to overcome our shared challenges in this pandemic, as well as create new opportunities for our people and businesses for the long term."
